The First Few Months Are the Most Important

Puppies have a critical socialization window that closes around 16 weeks. What they experience — and how — during this period shapes their confidence, their relationship with the world, and their trainability for life. Missing that window doesn’t mean all is lost, but it does mean more work later.

Early training isn’t just about teaching “sit.” It’s about building a dog who trusts you, looks to you for guidance, and can handle the world without falling apart. That starts now.

We Train You Both.

At K10 Academy, relationship-centered training means we teach your puppy how to learn — and we teach you how to communicate in a way they can understand. Puppies don’t come with instructions. We’re as close as it gets.

We use positive reinforcement alongside clear, consistent communication. The goal isn’t a dog who obeys commands — it’s a dog who genuinely wants to work with you because the relationship makes it worth their while.

Common Puppy Challenges We Address

Every puppy is different — but these are the challenges we see most often.

🦷

Biting and mouthing — fun for them, not so much for you

🐾

Jumping on people, furniture, and anything within reach

🚶

Pulling on leash before they’ve even learned to walk politely

📣

Excessive barking, whining, or demand behaviors

Zero impulse control — can’t settle, can’t focus, always on

😰

Fear or anxiety around new people, places, sounds, or dogs

Most puppy behavior problems are completely normal — and completely addressable with the right approach, early enough.

Our Approach to Puppy Training

We build a training plan around your puppy’s age, temperament, and what’s actually happening in your home — not a one-size-fits-all curriculum.

01

Start With You

We learn about your lifestyle, your goals, and what’s driving you crazy right now. The plan gets built around your reality — not a generic puppy checklist.

02

Foundation Skills

Focus, name recognition, sit, down, stay, loose leash walking, recall — the skills that make everything else easier. Built properly from the start so they hold up in real life.

03

Socialization & Exposure

We help you navigate the socialization window strategically — what to expose your puppy to, how to do it well, and how to read whether your dog is thriving or overwhelmed.

04

Problem Solving

Biting, jumping, zoomies at midnight — we address the specific behaviors making life hard right now, with techniques that work and that you can actually apply consistently.

What to Expect

Puppy training is some of the most rewarding work we do — and some of the most important. Here’s what working with K10 actually looks like.

Private Sessions Only

All sessions are one-on-one. Your puppy gets focused attention without the chaos of a group class — which means faster progress and less overstimulation.

You Do the Work Between Sessions

Five minutes of practice a day between sessions matters more than the session itself. We’ll tell you exactly what to work on and how — and we’ll check in on progress.

Real Environments

Sessions happen where your puppy actually lives and struggles — your neighborhood, your home environment, the parks and streets you walk every day. Not a training facility.

You’ll Leave With More Than Skills

When you book a package, you receive K10’s free comprehensive puppy guide — plus the understanding of why we’re doing what we’re doing. You’ll finish training knowing how to read your dog and keep making progress on your own. If separation anxiety develops, we offer a dedicated Separation Anxiety Program built specifically for that.

★★★★★
“I took my rescue puppy, Leo, to Ray for training. Ray took the time to learn about my personality and helped me understand how to work effectively with my pup. He is patient and kind, making the experience easy and fun. Leo is now 6 months old, and the training has made all the difference.”

“We got Marco from Oregon Dog Rescue when he was 4 months old. K10 understood immediately where we were coming from and from day one helped us unlock techniques we simply didn’t know. K10 taught ME more than Marco, and I left with all kinds of tools that I use daily. A great experience.”

“Ray was so helpful in teaching my girlfriend and I how to handle our 100 pound puppy. He provided a wide range of resources and training materials so we could find what works for us. By the end of our 3rd session, our reactive dog was playing safely with Ray’s dog. It’s clear this is more than just an income for Ray.”
